open concept coastal kitchen and dining room

Burnt Cedar

LOCATION: North Kingstown, RI

PROJECT TYPE: Renovation/Addition & Furnishings

BUILDER: Pondercraft Woodworking

PHOTOGRAPHER: George Gray

The Burnt Cedar project is a full home renovation and addition. In an ideal location, the original home was too small for this active family of five and their pup. We began by reimagining the floor plan and claimed a lower level garage and storage area as living space. In doing so we created a primary suite for our homeowners while their children’s rooms occupy the upper floor.

The kitchen, dining and living space remained open concept and gained a sprawling deck and hidden pantry to support our client’s generous entertaining style.

“We purchased a home in an ideal location that needed a full renovation. Lauren helped us from the start by suggesting creative layout changes and fresh design elements. We did not intend to use a designer for the entire project, but once we got going we realized how invaluable her input, knowledge, and help was. There were so many decisions to make in the process of completely renovating our home and Lauren helped us move through each one with ease. She understood our needs and helped us through some tricky subcontractor situations (our hires, not hers). Our home reflects all of the qualities we wanted it to: bright & airy, cozy, welcoming, timeless and comfortable. Every time someone visits, they’re wowed, and we have House of Winsor to thank for that!”
